LWVHC September Program Meeting
Presented by Democracy NC

The program is designed to educate people about the responsibilities of each elected position. It covers everything about local positions (Soil and Water Conservation Supervisor, Register of Deeds, Clerk of Courts, Sheriff, DA, County Commissioner, School Board, Justices (district, NC Superior, NC Court of Appeals, NC Supreme Court), and NC House of Representatives and NC Senators. It will also provide information about the proposed amendments to the NC Constitution.

The program is being presented as a collaboration between LWVHC and DemocracyNC. It is free and open to the public.

Tuesday, Sep. 25 at 6:00 PMCandidate Forum
The League of Women Voters of Henderson County will host a candidate forum for the candidates for the NC House and Senate. The candidates participating will be running for NC Senate District 48 (Chuck Edwards and Norm Bossert), NC House of Representatives District 113 (Cody Henson and Sam Edney) and NC House of Representatives District 117 (Chuck McGrady and Gayle Kemp).
The moderator will introduce the candidates, using an introduction provided by each candidate.

One question will be prepared on each of the following topics: the economy (taxes and spending), redistricting, healthcare, public education, voting rights, affordable housing, a healthy economy, the environment, secure elections, immigration (state and local), family values and human rights, and gun rights and regulations. Questions will be chosen randomly, and there should be time for at least six topics to be covered. No questions will be taken from the audience during the forum. However, approximately 20 minutes will be provided at the end of the formal forum so that candidates may talk with the attendees on a more individual basis.

All attendees are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful manner.

The forum is free and open to the public.

The League of Women Voters and the Henderson County Retired School Teachers Association will co-host a Forum for Candidates of the School Board.
Paul Goebel, a member of both organizations, will be the moderator.
The Forum is free and open to the public.
